SimpliSafe quick tip: Leaving a window open?
Particularly with the hot summer weather, we often get questions about whether it’s possible to leave a window open and still turn your alarm on. You certainly can and, as always, we keep it simple.
If you need to leave a window open because of the heat, just open the window before you arm your system. When you turn the alarm on (in home or away mode) it will warn you that you left a window open, but will still activate all of your other sensors and protect the entrances that are closed. Whenever you close the open window, it will start protecting that window again. It’s that easy.
If you’re going to leave a sliding window open regularly, you might consider purchasing an extra magnet for that window. As illustrated below, you can then have two protected positions for your window: 1) a fully-closed position and 2) a 6 inch open position. If the window opens further from either position, the alarm will be triggered.
