Accidently set off my alarm and then accidently hung up on monitering center

This morning around 5 am I accidently set off my alarm. When the monitering center called on my home phone I accidently hung up on them without speaking to them at all. I figured they would call me back or my cell phone or my neighbor or something. I didnt get a call back so I spent alot of time trying to look up a number to call the sheriffs department to cancel them being dispatched to my home. I expected since no one with Simplisafe spoke with me they automatically dispatched police. I decided to wait for them to arrive and appologise. What seemed like 15 minutes later I get another call on my home phone from simplisafe and I verified my safeword with them and was told by the rep that they had not dispatched police to my home. If this was a real breakin and the intruder hung up the phone I could have been dead by this time. This really concerns me. Another thing in my alarm history it says my alarm also went off at 4:23 am. If it went off at that time I slept through the alarm and no one called me and police were never dispatched to my home.

I would like to know more

I would like to know more about this as well. I am looking into your service, although I really wish you had the new system up for viewing and price out before I make up my mind. This is a very serious issue to me as I travel a lot with my job and my fiancee is often alone. It seems to me that with the alarm, then a hang up police would have been sent immediately. This episode as told above could very well make me choose another company.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Well, 9 days later and no

Well, 9 days later and no answer. With customer service like that I guess I will go to another company.

Thanks for posting back to this forum! Speaking with a customer after an alarm is not the only way SimpliSafe allows its users to cancel police dispatch. If at anytime the PIN number or keychain remote is used to deactivate the alarm before the police are dispatched, the monitoring service will get that Cancel signal and it is treated as the Safeword. So in other words, if the monitoring service is in the middle of calling the alarm owner or the local police and they receive the Cancel signal, they will abort the process and not proceed with police dispatch. This allows our customers to avoid false alarm fees or other penalties from their local police. However, we can remove this procedure from any account and the monitoring service will call for every alarm. Although, the only way to cancel the police dispatch for every alarm, would be to give the Safeword over the phone.

I am looking at SimpliSafe,

I am looking at SimpliSafe, but am concerned with this. You state possible reasons for no police dispatch, but do not indicate if evie.davis deactivated the alarm causing no dispatch. Is/was that the case or was there some other reason here?
