Dispatch Had Incorrect Police Number, No Police Response
I had an intruder in the house last night, the alarm worked as expected, dispatched called me, I received a text, however, dispatch had the wrong police dispatch number. Here are the details:
7:02 set alarm
7:22 entry notification via text
7:24 notification from Simplisafe od potential intruder
7:30. Call from simplisafe requesting confirmation of address as police couldn't find location
7:35 I call back asking if police responded and Simplisafe was unaware odd progress
I drove home and arrived approximately 15 minutes later to find my front and back done wide open and an apparent break in. The intruder appeared to come in the back and quickly out the front once the alarm sounded. The alarm definitely worked!
Shortly after my arrival a police department from 50 miles away called to aske if I was alright and where was I located. That police department dispatched my local sheriff which showed up almost 1 hour after the original notification.
After discussion with the Simplisafe dispatch center they blamed it on the "data entry center". I have requested a manager call me back today and hope to find what happened.

I am concerned about this.
I am concerned about this. How can I know what police will be called when my alarm is triggered?
My "Panic button" does not
My "Panic button" does not work immediately but only after either pushing several times or pushing and holding it for a few seconds until I hear the base station. Is this by design or do I have a defective unit?

Thanks for posting! The monitoring service will attach the most local police dispatch number to your account but if you would like for a specific police or sheriff department to be dispatched, you can put the name and number in your dispatch notes online, or you can give us a call and we can do it for you! As for the panic button, it does need to be held down for a full second for it to send the signal to the Base station. The Base will then send the emergency signal and then sound the siren. So a two or three second delay of the siren from the initial press of the Panic button is normal.

Just curious how they know
Just curious how they know what police to call. I know some communities have part time police and the local sherriff may work the after hours shifts. How does this work?

Thanks for posting! The monitoring service will be contacting the most local police or dispatch center to your location. However, if there are any specific instructions you would like to provide for your area, we would be happy to accommodate!
