We are currently focusing on security, but are always evaluating new sensors and services that we can add to the SimpliSafe platform. Fire / smoke detectors and fire alarm monitoring is definitely on our short list.

Same here. I am definitely interested in them and would buy at least 2-3 for my house.

This is currently the only thing keeping me from purchasing this system. I really want smoke / fire integrated with whatever system I choose to go with.

It was a deciding factor for me to. However, i decided to buy the system anyway because the service won me over. And i figured they would come out with the smoke/fire soon enough.

We are currently developing our Smoke and Fire monitoring components and they should be released sometime soon, so stay tuned!

I bought SimpliSafe for my rental property last month and it's great! The email status updates are priceless.

For me to get one for my own house, I NEED Fire Alarm and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Protection.
I have 2 small dogs at home alone throughout the week.

I think you would see your customer base triple if you had at least Fire Alarm protection.

Just adding my voice... I'm willing to get the system the moment fire monitoring is available. I currently use ADT, with young children in the house while I'm at work Fire monitoring is crucial to my purchase decision.
So... waiting patiently until September...

I'd like to try your system but have a few questions:

- If I order the system now, can you confirm that the brain will work with the soon to be released fire monitoring?
- What will the monthly rate be? The same or more?

The fire monitoring will require the new Base Station. The monthly rate may increase if the data usage of the new sensor exceeds the typical usage of the system. If there's an increase, it will likely be in the $3-5 range.

If we buy a system now and want to get the fire sensor when it becomes available this fall, would we have to buy the new base station for full price, or would there be an option to exchange the old base station for the new one?

All current customers will be able to swap the old Base Station for the new Base Station simply by paying the price difference between the two models. That's expected to be about $100.

I rigged a fire/smoke to work using a door/window sensor - takes about 5 minutes. The problem is that the cs reads it as a door/window trip - that's the only way I can come up with until they release a dedicated fire/smoke sensor and the corresponding change in the base station software. Hope that helps.

This is currently the only thing keeping me from purchasing this system. I really want smoke / fire integrated with whatever system I choose to go with. Also need glass protection... My new home will be done in about 8-10 mos. Need to now before they start to wire the home....

Any ETA? Most homeowners insurance discounts require smoke in addition to an alarm. Very interested here and any sense as to timing would be great.

It's looking more like the end of January or early Febuary. Due to testing and development the release date has been pushed back. We are just trying to work out all the kinks.

Tired of wrong dates and push backs...its time for me to move to another company that has this critical fire alarm available. It would be sad as rest of the services from simplisafe are good. After all there are more fire incidents than burglaries...

SimpliSafe needs to be absolutely positive that the Fire/Smoke sensors work flawlessly with the new base station as we understand that customers will be trusting the equipment with the protection of their home. Do you have a new date that is reliable ? if not, at least be sincere and say it would take longer. Dont just fish out dates from the hat to keep your customers..wont do good in long run.

I agree... if it's not going to be available any time soon, just say so rather than having people wait.

Please post an update on the availability of the Fire/Smoke sensors. What will a system cost?

Thanks for posting! The Fire/Smoke sensors will be released shortly after the new Base Station in a couple of months! Exact pricing has not yet been established, however, rest assured it will coincide with our current competitive pricing!

Thanks for posting! You will only have to pay the difference in price for the upgraded Base Station! Meaning, you will get the full $99.99 that you paid for the current one towards the price of the new one!

It's now almost april 2012 and still "just a few more months" - this has been on your short list since early 2011 and I'm faced with having to look at other providers since it seems that simplisafe has no intention of delivering on this.
