I have been a VERY happy customer for a year now but would like the new base station and
android support well as fire, September is long gone hows the status on the upgrades?

@sales_1 Thanks for the post!

@sales_1

Thanks for the post! We are working hard to ensure that the highest standards are met on all the equipment and the ability to be installed and used by all customers! Thank you for your patience and continued service!

Come on SimpliSafe, we

Come on SimpliSafe, we deserve a better response than that. The new components have been promised for a very long time. They were supposed to be here now. We know you're still testing, and we know that you want to meet the highest standards, etc., but what is really going on? I think that you need to make some effort to restore credibility.

What you talkin about Willis

What you talkin about Willis (I couldnt resist) ;)

Simplisafe, Take your time and work out all the bugs etc. To many companies rush things out just to have them out. Im a new customer and I too was on the fence waiting for the new system. I'm happy I picked this up. I feel great that my Family and home are safer.

thanks for an excellent product.

I understanding testing

I understanding testing working out bugs etc... but in that case, someone drastically underestimated the release of the updates!

I would rather wait for a

I would rather wait for a system with less bugs, rushing product out before its fully qualified is never a good idea. Wait untill you have it more perfected, This is how you get credibility with the people who matter

so is this "new" system out

so is this "new" system out now? or is this still in the works?

@Saliva2002 Thanks for

@Saliva2002

Thanks for posting! The upgraded base station is still in the works. We are almost there!

So should people, including

So should people, including me, wait to make the purchase for the new equipment, or will we be able to trade in our old ones?

also, what are the upgrades to the base station and equipment that we can look forward to?

i've seen mention of android support... will this, and other upgrades (such as fire/c02 monitoring), make the montly monitoring fees increase? what about prices of the accessories, will they all go up or are they compatible with current ones??

(sorry to ask so much but i'm sure you can understand me wanting to get the right system to protect my family, and price is a very big factor)

@Saliva2002 I would recommend

@Saliva2002

I would recommend purchasing a system now because when the new base station is released you will be able to trade in your older base station for the new one, after paying the difference for the new base station. Also keep in mind, when the new base station is released there will be a limited supply so we will be offering all of our current customers the first chance to upgrade.

Here are some of the features the new base station will be able to support:

1) Support 41 sensors (that’s up from the current 26)
2) Multiple Keypad support (up to 3)
3) Automatic Rearm option
4) Remote arm/disarm
5) Swinger shutdown: This is important if you use the automatic rearm features. If a sensor is malfunctioning, the Base station will not accept more than 1 trigger from that sensor until the system has been manually shut off and rearmed
6) NEW SENSOR SETTING OPTION: Alert only for Entry Sensors and Motion Sensors. So you can put an Entry Sensor on your liquor cabinet. It won’t trigger an alarm, but you will get an email/sms text, whenever the sensor is opened. You need service to take advantage of this feature
7) NEW SENSOR SETTING OPTION: Instant Trigger for Entry Sensors and Motion Sensors. This removes any delay between the sensor being triggered and the siren.

Customer Upgrade Offer

We will offer current customers the opportunity to upgrade to the new Base Station and add new sensors. The upgrade cost is expected to be about $100.

$15 a month for fire

$15 a month for fire monitoring? That pushes my monitoring cost way above what I paid Brinks to monitor my previous house. I would like fire monitoring, but that is an absurd price if it is on top of the "intrusion monitoring." I hope that you are planning to offer a package that keeps the total cost reasonable. Otherwise, you will lose your competitive advantage.

i'm going to have to rethink

i'm going to have to rethink this now, for $30 month, and $200 for a base? Thats $270 just for the base and keypad WITHOUT sensors. I love the look of this system and the features and ease of use, but its starting to be one of the more expensive on the market..... maybe you should offer contracts on an optional basis to save 50% or something..... just saying, if you start coming within a few dollars of the ADT systems, i would assume most would just go with the name they know, such as a new car company charging 18,000 for a car, when mercedes has the same car for 18,500... might as well just spend the little extra for the name brand...

1 other question: you wrote,

8) NEW SENSOR SETTING OPTION: Instant Trigger for Entry Sensors and Motion Sensors. This removes any delay between the sensor being triggered and the siren.

so is there a delay when someone kicks in your door on the current system, since instant trigger is a new feature?

To no-one in particular

To no-one in particular ;)

Instant triggers are not always wanted. I need at least 8 seconds to enter the doorway and enter my code. Maybe you should take a few seconds before you post. ;) Simplisafe. Don't go the way of ADT w/contracts ...just saying ;)

I was inches away from

I was inches away from pulling the trigger on a fully loaded 26 sensor system.....then I saw the monthly pricing in here.

$15 a month for fire and flood monitoring. On top of the intrusion service. Are you kidding me!!!?!?!?

Let me get this right, I buy equipment from you that detects a flood or smoke and you charge me $180 a year to maybe get a single phone call or maybe no phone calls at all?? That doesn't pass the sniff test. When you write "There's something wrong with the alarm industry" on the front page of this site.....well this is exactly what Is wrong.

You guys are becoming exactly what your marketing claims your not. Simplisafe needs to do some soul searching and ask what got them to grow so fast?

Sorry to seem so harsh but I feel kind of let down. I was so pumped up on you guys. I waited a month to see if you'd come out with your new system and now seeing that you are going to nickel and dime us to death on the monthly fees....that really took the wind out of my sails.

Yeah, you don't have a contract but effectively you do. Once I've invested $700 plus into a system I'm not going to buy a new one anytime soon. I'm locked in.

Just disappointed :(

Justin

Wow, way to forget what made

Wow, way to forget what made you guys different. Charging $15 for something that does not cost you guys anymore to do, that is just ADT. $15 for Fire & Environment, that is not impressive. As Justin pointed out, while their maybe no contracts we all have already invested a lot in our systems and been big supporters of this company. Honestly, careless of rather you go though with this or not I am so disappointed. Guess I need to start looking at other options.

Hi All, Sorry for the

Hi All,

Sorry for the confusion about pricing. We were never contemplating a $14.99 add on price for Fire Monitoring.

To maintain the simplicity, we are planning on offering 2 service packages on our site.

24 hour Burglary Alarm Monitoring:

• cellular link (competitors typically charge $12/month for this feature alone)
• 24 hr alarm monitoring and police dispatch

$14.99/month

Total Monitoring w/ Online Command

• cellular link
• 24/hr burglary alarm monitoring and police dispatch
• Fire and carbon monoxide alarm monitoring and emergency dispatch
• Freeze and flood monitoring
• online command of your system to
-arm/disarm remotely
-add/remove sensors remotely
-change system settings like PIN, entry and exit delay etc. remotely
-see the status of all sensors online anytime
• smart alerts for
-arm/disarm w/ PIN
-alarms
-Entry Sensor opened/closed (for sensors that are in "notify only" mode
-system notifications like Power Outage and Sensor error.

$24.99/month (compare this to $48/month charge by ADT for PULSE)

While the current Smart Alerts plan won't be offered, we will grandfather in all current customers that want to continue using smart alerts +burglary for $19.99/month.

We hope that better reflects the quality and service value you've come to expect from us!

Best,

Thanks Melina, that sounds

Thanks Melina, that sounds much better. I would be willing to pay $5 more for fire since I already want the smart alerts.

That's much better. I'm also

That's much better. I'm also willing to pay an extra $5 for the extra services. Combined with an insurance discount for monitored fire, that's reasonable.

Hi. I am considering becoming

Hi. I am considering becoming a SimpliSafe customer and wanted to wait until your new base station comes out, but was interested in the $19.99 price that included Internet features. I am not interested in fire as $19.99 already stretches my limit (I don't have an alarm system at all now, so this is a new $20/month charge over and above... zilch).

Can I still order the $19.99/month service and be grandfathered in? I see no reason to pay for fire support since I won't even be buying the sensor!

Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for clearing that up. Much much more reasonable. For a second I thought you guys had lost your minds. But, you got me back on board again. I am going right now to order my system. I hope to get an email when the new system comes out because I want to upgrade. Also when the new system comes out I will probably be getting it for my business if I like how it is working at home.

Justin

Happiness is restored to the

Happiness is restored to the Simplisafe Kingdom. Thanks for clearing that up, much more reasonable. I feared you guys turned to the dark side. : )

I was holding off on my

I was holding off on my purchase because of the fear of a too inflated price using both burglar/fire monitoring. Now i'am satisfied to hear a more reasonable price structure so your company once again made a believer out of me! Now i'am trying to decide if i should wait a little longer for the new system or purchase now and trade in later!

Terry

I am still on the fence at

I am still on the fence at becoming a new customer. Is the new(upgraded) base station going to require 'Your' sensors to work with all of the newly supported features? I can see where you would need to with something like a freeze detector, but what about Fire? My system currently monitors my fire alarms through their protocol(over the power in my house-FIREX), it would be nice if your new base station supported this, and the other built-in fire alarm standard(I forget it's name). Just curious, as each added on sensor does add up. ;)

Also, for those of you harping on not having a release date, a lot of things go into the development, testing, and release of any product, especially electronics, there is software code that has to work with hardware code/firmware and vice-versa, not to mention if they are getting a UL Rating, they have no control whatsoever on how long that will take. I would just be happy to have a new more feature-rich product that is reliable, so it is worth the wait.

As for me, I have to say that their approach at alarm monitoring and service is a really good one. If I had come across them when looking for a new system in the past I would have already been a customer, I am only hedging now because I would like to get the features that they are going to have in the new base station release. I have not gone with systems such as ADT's Pulse because their start-up costs are crazy expensive, their contracts are a ball and chain, and their monthly monitoring fee's are outrageously expensive. SimpliSafe is truly about to shake up the alarm service and monitoring industry, to offer what they are coming out with for the price that they are going to do it at is a peace of mind at a price point that makes you feel good about what you are getting and what you are doing to keep your home, your pets, and your property safe.

-Patrick

Patrick, agree with

Patrick, agree with everything you say, especially how tricky new technology can be, but........ it would be nice to have a plain, simple statement from Simplisafe why the delay. My own quess is that it is not a question of the technology working but something way more common like licensing or reaching contractual agreements with the monitoring stations or some other element Simplisafe does not directly control. Cost of service is key and could pose a tough negotiation challenge for them.

$24.99 per month for Burglary

$24.99 per month for Burglary and Fire monitoring is still too high. Simplisafe's strong selling point was its competitive pricing. I am not so sure that is the case anymore.

$24.99 is very competitive.

$24.99 is very competitive. As I type, I'm in the process of shopping for a new cellular based alarm system. In fact, I have 36 month contract sitting in my email inbox now, with a scheduled installation for January 5th. My wife has been hoarding the computer with the printer attached so I was not able to print and email it back right away. So in the meanwhile I shopped around some more and came across Simplisafe. I am very tempted to cancel my appointment and going with Simplisafe.

With the prices fresh in my mind I would like to share them with the above poster. I chose a very reputable local company to replace my ADT system as I'm on a spend local tip. Here are the numbers (fire & burglary). The cost for installation using my existing wireless sensors is $199 (no telling what it would have been if I did not already have sensors), a 36 month contract is required, one remote included additional remotes are $80, monitoring is $39.50/month, web/smartphone access an additional $10/month.

So just by looking at the above numbers it is clear to see that Simplisafe is an excellent deal cost wise. Purchasing a similar setup to what I have would be $150 more than the installation cost but that is quickly made up in monthly fees.

Cost wise Simplisafe wins hands down. The choice comes to rather I want to deal with a long-standing, highly reputable and professional local company or an out-of-state unknown that offers great savings. For me, not an easy decision but as of now I am leaning toward trying Simplisafe.

Basically, I said all that to say that $24.99 is a darn good deal for the package offered.

Sorry ... but these are

Sorry ... but these are current numbers from our Atlanta market. My current alarm system (Akerman Security of Atlanta GA) charges $23.95 per month for both Burglery and Fire monitoring. This is only for the monthly monitoring for these two services. That is it. I am not providing any costs for hardware or "additional" bells and whistles such as smartphone alerts etc. Frankly, I do not care about extra features such as this and I think it is included to justify the higher pricing plan. So, when I look at it strictly from a "value to me" standpoint ... SimpliSafe's new pricing plan of $24.99 is not that competitive to my local provider of $23.95.

What I don't understand about Simplisafe's pricing plan is why limit it to only two plans - one for Burglery at $14.99 per month and other Total Monitoring at $24.99 per month? Why not create a 3rd plan that provides Burglery and Fire monitoring and price it $19.99 per month? For those who want all the extra bells and whistles such as carbon monoxide, alerts, etc they can still choose the $24.99 option.

If that is cellular service,

If that is cellular service, then you have an awesome deal. I would stick with the local company. Good point made on the pricing plans.

SO THE NEW SYSTEM YOU WILL BE

SO THE NEW SYSTEM YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET CAMERAS. HOW MUCH EXTRA PER MONTH WILL THE CAMERA OR CAMERAS BE? AND HOW MANY CAMERAS WILL THE SYSTEM SUPPORT?

@ T-ROY Thanks for posting!

@ T-ROY

Thanks for posting! The cameras will run on your internet so the amount of cameras you can have will depend on the available bandwidth in your home. They are still being tested for the minimum bandwidth requirements at this time. There will be a small fee added on to your monitoring plan for the recording space on your customer account online.

New Customer here: I have

New Customer here:

I have had numerous hardwired / land line monitored, home, camp and business alarm systems since 1982. EXPENSIVE! And No Frills!
In that time I have used four different alarm companies, (Simplisafe is now the fifth company.)

Currently I have 2 Simplisafe wireless systems, one for home and one for business. I am very satisfied with the current equipment, monitoring and pricing. The proposed new pricing plans seem excellent compared to most other companies at this time. With new upgrades on the way, and superior customer service, you should not hesitate to purchase equipment and become a life long customer of Simplisafe. Besides, how can you go wrong with their 60 day guarantee? I suspect the return rate is minute, if even worth measuring.

PS. I'm guilty of being impatient for upgrades too, and I just got here!

this is by far the cheapest

this is by far the cheapest system I could find....everything around here was cheap install or no price at all...but...I don't own it, and I'm stuck with it for 3yrs, and most only covered half the house. I got my entire house covered with this system and it saved me thousands!!!! My monthly bill is awesome too and having peace of mind...priceless!!!

The police just pulled a guy

The police just pulled a guy out of my driveway. This is at least the third close call I've had in the many many months I've been waiting for the new system (since I was first told in May!). With four entrances that are all regularly used by not just us but guests and dog walkers, I can not buy the existing system as I need 4 keypads. I don't think I can wait any longer.

Sounds like you'd be better

Sounds like you'd be better off buying a gun and a full time guard detail instead of relying solely on SimpliSafe's product release schedule. Good luck and stay safe.

so are we looking at around

so are we looking at around 30 dollars with cameras installed per month?

I, too, have been looking

I, too, have been looking forward to the new system, but I would rather they worked all the kinks out before releasing it. It's better to take their time and do it right than for a flawed system to be released that won't work properly. I'm very happy with the system as it is now. The cameras and fire monitoring will definitely be a welcome addition though.

Any new anticipated release

Any new anticipated release date for the "mythical" upgrade?

I think every serious

I think every serious company serving customers should be able to GIVE and STICK to an ETA (estimated time arrival) in regards to the new base and features.

It's ok to be off by week or two, but cmon, REALLY......You guys do not have any kind of TARGET DATE to begin offering the new base and added features?

Testing is great. We want a reliable system and you can give us dates that take into consideration all the time in the world for testing - but you need to commit to dates

OR

be fair - and outright tell us - that there are legal and contractual OTHER issues that may take an UNDEFINED number of months. I have been reading now for MONTHS about the "new" system.

I'm considering this system

I'm considering this system based on the upcoming availability of Fire monitoring and just wanted to check that if I buy a system now I could pay the $14.99 rate but then when fire monitoring is available I will have to pay $100 for the new base model, plus $xx for the fire sensor, plus the rate will go to $24.99 per month.

Thanks.

They'll probably delet the

They'll probably delet the Post but...
Something else must be going on here. You could go from a napkin drawing to an Arduino/Zigbee system that does it all and more oem from China, FCC spec'd, tested, packaged and delivered in less time than this upgrade is taking. Dozens of companies, give them specs, they give you product fast and cheap and tough as nails. Pick any technology/frequency/processor. It's - something else. You would think if it was a testing issue they would have had beta units in people's hands months ago. And the pricing to monitor fire or any other sensors doesn't make sense. It's all the same to the monitoring center - right now you're sending at minimum, bug, panic, duress, power fail - doesn't cost any more to have them track fire, glass break, whatever.

Geez, paranoid much? The

Geez, paranoid much? The upgrade will come when it is ready. I do not think there is some grand conspiracy on the part of Simplisafe.

Well, my world is not coming

Well, my world is not coming to an end because there is a delay in the release of the new system. I"m happy to already have an excellent system at a reasonable cost. Any upgrades in the future will be gravy.

Calm down folks. They are

Calm down folks.

They are in charge of making their own product, so outsourcing to China isn't an option.

Can they even update firmware remotely? If not then I can see why the Quality Assurance process would be lengthy. Believe me, you don't want to have a buggy security/fire/burglar system and SimpliSafe doesn't want to have to replace/recall a faulty product because you have no patience.

Does your current system work now? Yes. Are the services you are currently paying for working as originally advertised? Yes. Those of you chomping at the bit need to take a chill pill. What gives you the right to dictate the schedule of this company and when they release updates?

I'm buying a new house in 2 weeks and I will be buying this system (whether or not the upgrades are out) with the reassurance of being able to upgrade for the cost difference and a fair pricing plan.

Can't ask for more than that.

Heating up It appears the

Heating up
It appears the customer base is getting a bit restless. Both sides have good points, but you do have to wonder what the delays are for the new system given the ongoing "will be out in the near future" or "will be out next month" or "will be out in the next few months" etc. Run through the forums and poor Ryan will be seen spinning the corporate line for over a year. People do realize we are not talking about buiding a nuclear reactor here and Simplisafe has other issues going on, whether that be financial, legal or otherwise. Simply put (pun not intended), you wait, buy or go somewhere else.
I am now month to month with my current provider and will go until May 1, then move on.
