Will SimpliSafe work in a home that is pre-wired for secutiry

Hello,

My home is pre-wired for security. I do not have home security system. Can SimpliSafe take advantage of the pre-wiring? Or does it only work with wireless entry sensors.

Thanks.

Not really. There's little

Not really. There's little to no advantage having a pre-wire situation. Retrofitting some of the components you have to interface with SS system is both complicated and provides little advantage. I wired up one of the remote sirens to trip a 3rd party cell communicator and while it works, it really was/is more trouble an it's worth.

Thanks for posting! Unfortunately, the base station can only communicate with SimpliSafe equipment.

I understand that SimpliSafe

I understand that SimpliSafe will not work with pre installed wired systems. This is too bad as I really like the concept of SimpliSafe but will not be able to use it. It seems to me that the development of some kind of interface module to pre installed wired sensors would add many many existing homes as potential clients for SimpliSafe. Any chance of this happening?

Thanks for posting! Wired equipment has no way of transmitting a wireless signal to our Base and the Base is designed to only except signals from SimpliSafe serial numbers as well as only except signals from components programmed into it. There is also no way to hook up wired equipment to any SimpliSafe components. So unfortunately, any existing wired equipment has no way of communicating with SimpliSafe.

I think SimpliSafe is really

I think SimpliSafe is really designed for people who just want to buy the system, take it out of the box, and install it easily with room for expansion, and the ability to move the system with ease. If it is okay for me to say this here, there are many online retailers where you can purchase a new control panel, keypad, and some other devices for a more traditional type system. I installed my old alarm system (it was wireless, but the control panel, siren, and keypads were wired) and I have switched to SimpliSafe. My panel started acting odd, and I lost trust in the company I ordered it from and was getting monitoring from. A few months ago when I asked about cellular monitoring, there were three options, one was $100 for basic backup, one was $150 (primary or back up communication) and another was $200 (primary communication) initially. I cannot remember the difference between the last two. All three of those options added $5 per month (to the basic landline monthly price of around $15).
SimpliSafe seems like the best option if you want cellular monitoring, at $15 a month, with cellular as the primary form of communication.
