Does system reset itself?
Posted August 20th, 2010 by t0m1st3r
hi..............
If the burglars are dumb enough to come back after the sirens stop to try and break in again...would the system have reset itself so the sirens would go off again?
............thanks, Tom

Hey Tom, you can set the
Hey Tom, you can set the siren time for the lowest setting, then put the system in test mode, wait for EDS to call and ask them to put you in "test mode" and then you can find out first hand if the system resets. I personally haven't tested that idea (it would annoy the people next door). So if you try this please post a reply I'd like to know this for myself. BTW you can set the siren sound to low so you don't annoy anyone living near you, just remember to change back all your settings back to where you want them. Happy Testing, Tom
Automatic reset of the alarm
Automatic reset of the alarm is a setting. For many people, it's better to manually turn the alarm back on after the police and you (or one of your contacts) has been to the home to make sure everything is okay and, if it's a false alarm, there's no ongoing source of the false alarm. For some people though the automatic reset is a nice feature. If you need any help setting this, please let us know.

Hello. Some months ago I downloaded the update to have my alarm system reset itself when it goes off. It worked when I tested it. Tonight my dog set off the alarm while I wasn't home. I expected the alarm to reset itself and start beeping when I walked through the door, but it didn't. I put my account in test mode to test the system and it did not reset itself. Can you tell me what to do to get the system to reset itself again? Thanks!

It looks like your smart alert upgrade disabled the auto-rearm feature. Please try downloading the upgrade again to re-able. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Hello - our alarm went off
Hello - our alarm went off for the first time tonight -- dispatch called, police arrived, false alarm (thankfully).
The event log says a motion detector was tripped. My guess is that it has to do with a heating vent near the motion sensor.
Is there any way to see, remotely, if the system rearmed itself? I don't recall setting the automatic rearm feature when I set up my system, but I changed a number of settings so it's quite possible. I am out of town so only recourse is to have a neighbor check on our place. But in the meantime I want to make sure more false alarms don't get triggered in the middle of the night (so that the neighbors will still like us in the morning).
John
@John, You can't currently
@John,
You can't currently check the status of your alarm remotely -- that's a new feature we're working on releasing next year.
In any case, we always recommend that you or a friend check on your place as soon as possible after an alarm. Make sure there's no obvious cause of the false alarm (in this case) and then you can re-arm the system. If you'd like any help troubleshooting the false alarm, or adding or removing the auto-rearm feature in the future, please let us know.

Sir, I am just now attempting
Sir,
I am just now attempting to send initial test signal to Simplisafe. What is proper procedure for me and Simplisafe? Does the alarm siren sound in my residence? Do I turn it off by entering my pin? Do your operators still notify me and my contacts (i.e., by telephone, text, e-mail)? What do I need to do and be aware of?
Hey Sager500, These multiple
Hey Sager500,
These multiple questions will be definitely answered if you carefully read the hard copy manual given with the box or you can download from support menu at the bottom of site. It is all there, however let me try few
1. Go to test mode in the key pad by following the manual, press buttons at the bottom of the motion sensors and check whether all sensors work by opening and closing each door/window and moving in front of motion sensor. Base station will give you audible signal whenever it will sense the actions. This itself is initial test signal. Pl note, in the initial three day practice mode system do send the signal to customer care but we are not notified, you get notification only after first three days once system goes in active mode. I got a call from dispatch when I tried test mode in active mode. So if you just installed and you are in practice mode, check the system but do not expect dispatch to call you
2. There is always a delay time before system triggers an alarm, you are expected to enter pin during this delay time, if you enter correctly system gets deactivated and no alarm will sound but if not then you will get alarm which will go on for four minute and despatch will call you, if you provide them with safe word it is fine else they will send cops. If it is a false alarm you can reset your base station to active mode again ( for this provide sr number of your base to customer care by sending them mail and they can guide you further)
I notice after logging in my
I notice after logging in my account I have an automatic test entry although it wasn't send to my email nor text. What is this and how often does it occur? Why wasn't the alert sent to me as well? Also who is the monitoring company?
@ 648grf Thanks for posting!
@ 648grf
Thanks for posting! The automatic test is just a simple quick data transmission sent to us from your Base Station to ensure your system is still connected. This occurs every seven days for you to keep track of the systems connection if you are not at the property. It is only sent to our servers to keep the complexity of this small test to a minimum. If you lose connection for any reason, your system will issue a 'No Link to Dispatcher' message on the keypad. If which case, the best thing to do is to contact our customer support line!
Our monitoring is done by a partner company of ours called Amcest, or Next Alarm, depending on your city and state. However, if you are looking for alarm permit information, or just looking for information specific to your area, give our customer support line a call and we will provide you with all the information you need!

@ AEAvery
SimpliSafe must create a custom download to change certain aspects and features of the system. Customers can request these downloads over the phone, through email, or right here on the forums! The instructions that are emailed are how to do the download, which are the following:
1) Insert your Keychain Remote into the Base Station to make sure we have the latest data synchronized
2) Insert your Keychain Remote into your computer to launch the Easy Setup Wizard
3) From the main menu select "adjust settings" and then "advanced options"
4) Click on the "download system upgrade button"
5) When the download is complete click ‘Save Changes’, you will see a notification to sync your Keychain Remote with the Base Station. Please note: Be careful not to remove the Keychain Remote too quickly.
