Positioning Siren 105DB

2 questions:

1. I read that the siren can be mounted under an eave outside. Is there a maximum distance it should be placed (from the Base Station I assume)?
2. Is there an optimum positioning of the Keypad, in relation to the Base Station and Siren (should it be with x feet of each other or in a triangular shape)?

Thanks for posting! The siren works off the signals between the base and the keypad. So typical maximum distance is about 50 feet, however, depending on the number of walls or certain infrastructure can cause variations. Optimal position would be between the base and keypad but it is not necessary.

Ryan, I just today bought a system, including outdoor siren.......we're in the low desert and the location under the eave can well exceed 120 degrees; am I "good to go" regarding durability under these conditions?

Thanks for posting! Temperatures over 110 degrees can cause damage to the circuitry inside your siren such as melting and warping which may cause it to malfunction. I would not suggest mounting it outside if temperatures will exceed 120 degrees.

Thanks for posting! The extra siren and Base Station siren should be going off at the same time. If this is not the case, give our customer support a call and I'm sure we can solve the issue for you!

Any ideas on a weatherproof box I can mount outside to house the siren? I don't have a covered location to put it, and alerting my neighbors is the best form of security. I would like to suggest an outdoor siren for an upcoming idea.

barcook246,

I'm also in the same climate, and would recommend against the outdoor placement. The battery life will be greatly reduced in these high OATs (outside air temps). Something to consider.

I contacted Customer Support

I contacted Customer Support and they sent me a spare mounting plate....so when it gets hot, I can place the outdoor siren inside the garage near an open air vent (to maximize the noise effect) - moving the siren seasonally will be my mantra.

Thanks.

The only problem is that an outdoor siren is much more effective than indoor. It would be nice if they could make a siren that can be safely placed outdoors.

Thanks for posting! The extra wireless sirens we offer can be mounted outdoors! You just have to protect them from direct elements as they cannot get hit with rain or snow. But as long as they as under en eave or a porch, they will fully function outdoors!

My problem is that I don't have an eave or a porch to mount it under for protection from the elements. I guess I'll have to find some kind of vented box to put it in.
