Problem screw-mounting the motion sensors.

I've been having a problem when trying to mount the motion sensors using the included screws. There doesn't seem to be enough room between the unit and the base to allow for the screw heads. Can someone comment on this situation?

I have the sensors placed in
I have the sensors placed in corners so the screws would not work. I used small thin nails, picture nails. Workes great
