I submitted the SimpliSafe certificate to my homeowners insurance to see if I could get a reduced rate. Yesterday I got a new declarations page showing the alarm system and a $132 annual reduction! The system pays for itself!

Wow! Thanks for sharing the good news. Do you mind sharing with us which insurance company you use? I hadn't bothered with doing this yet myself, since I didn't think I'd save that much. Now I'm feeling silly for being so lazy!
Sure, the insurance company
Sure, the insurance company is High Point (formerly Prudential).

Thanks. I'm waiting to hear back from Chubb on my rental policy... will post back when I get some news.

Got a check for $43 from the insurance company yesterday. It was a rebate of my premium for the alarm covering the period up to my next renewal. Excellent!

I just heard back and will get a $122 annual reduction on my rental insurance premium! Amazing!
I should note that I have a particularly expensive rental insurance plan because I work from home and have a lot of expensive equipment here. I wouldn't expect a standard rental plan would have that type of reduction. Still, it's a nice percentage and in this case, as you said, the system pays for itself!
Thanks again for the nudge.
My homeowners insurance is
My homeowners insurance is expensive also as I have "replacement insurance" where they pay current market value to replace posessions, but I will take the $132 reduction gladly! Everyone should give it a try!

I can attest that we speak with State Farm agents daily to ensure our subscribers get their insurance discounts. I'm interested in knowing if we can get a forum string from our subscribers detailing their insurance agencies and what the discount was. I'll sticky the thread if we get some good input.

USAA does have a discount for a monitored alarm system. USAA is for military, close family of military, or close family of someone who is already a member. I don't know the exact amount, but it seems pretty good. They didn't even ask for an alarm certificate.

After I installed my SimpliSafe system I notified USAA and I was told I was saving about $500 a year! Yes this system pays for itself in less than a year! I was further informed I would save an additional $50 once I had a smoke detector integrated with the system.

They gave me 5% off on the discount. Would have been better with Fire. But you cannot add Fire in SimliSafe, could you?
I have heard of a device that listens to the home fire alarm and transmits that out to monitoring system. But I did not find it on simplisafe yet.
