Any new hardware coming?

Is simplisafe planning on selling additional security hardware? Particularly I was thinking of a glass breaking audible sensor. I know my office (with Brinks service) has this and find it incredibly effective, especially if it immediately triggers the alarm. Anything else being developed?

Hi Dan, Yes, we have a

Hi Dan,

Yes, we have a number of exciting additions in development, including an Extra Siren that can be added into an existing SimpliSafe system. This siren will be wireless (of course!) and battery powered (as always!) and designed so that it can be installed indoors or outdoors. This may be especially useful for some of our customers who have larger homes or in cases where neighbors live further away and the extra volume is important.

We also have a slightly smaller Keychain Remote entering production. This Keychain Remote will not include the USB connector or the Easy Setup Wizard software, so it's not meant to be a replacement for the original Keychain Remote. It will just provide a slightly smaller and lighter form factor.

Next up, we already have a Broadband Adapter in limited availability. For most customers this will not be necessary, but for folks who move to a location with poor wireless coverage and who don't want to get a phone line to connect to the dispatch center, this will provide a nice alternative. This adapter is available for $59 -- if you're interested, please contact customer service to ask to be put on the waiting list.

Further out we have additional sensors in early stages of research. I can't provide too many details on these yet, but as we get further along, we'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Got any requests? Feel free to let us know -- here in the forums or by contacting SimpliSafe customer support.

Best,
Chad

Has there already been a decision on the price for the wireless siren? <$30?
and what shape will the newer keychain have? will it be keeping it's stick shape?

@tony, the wireless siren will be priced at about $55.

@scott, support for extra keypads is in the works and should be available sometime next year. We'll update you once we have a more precise ETA.

I agree with robover. A glass breakage sensor would be optimal. Entry sensors are great for doors and sliding windows, however, theres no way anybody is opening windows (from the outside) that have a crank to open, they're going to break the glass. Also, a wi-fi connected system for arming and de-arming online would be awesome. The thing that I would like to see most is probably a home button that I can place near our bed. I'm not sure how many people would agree with me, but I live in a split-level townhome, and it's just inconvenient to go downstairs to set the alarm at night. All around this is an incredible system, and we are 100% satisifed with hardware, software, monitoring and most of all YOUR INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you!

I see above that it says an extra siren will be available and that was posted 6 months ago. Is there an ETA on when that will be available? Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I've forwarded it to the product design team.

siren is awesome! im happy to hear that! i would also like to see the glass break sensor also, and maybe some wireless cameras

Why a home button? I'd

Why a home button? I'd rather just have the ability to add another keypad (which I understand you're already working on that?).. I'd also fire monitoring.. smoke and/or heat sensors and maybe on the next version of your keypad you could turn the panic button into a 2 or 3 button system so we can select "panic", "fire", or "medical".. I always loved having those three options on keypads so that the monitoring centre has more of an idea of the emergency and can react more accordingly..

EDIT: and obviously glass break sensors

a great addition would be an

a great addition would be an angled motion detector mounting device. This way you could put it up in the corner of a room and have it be angled down for motion detection. In my opinion this would greatly enhance the aesthetics of the system as the sensor doesn't seem to work when mounted in the horizontal position high on walls, and people would rather stick it up in the corner than somewhere in the room.

having a smoke/fire detector

having a smoke/fire detector integrated into the system is essential to me... its the only thing that has kept me from ordering a system already.. i'm still shopping for something that has all the other benefits of simpisafe plus the fire/smoke detector with monitoring

thank you for the helpful replies through email

hi simplisafe,
may i suggest a new design for the keypad. the keys are too small and close together and the sceeen is very hard to
read.. maybe a flatter, square keypad with bigger keys and a brighter screen.
thanks.
dawn :o)

Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestion. We do have a slight update to the Keypad coming in a few months that will provide a higher contrast screen. I'll certainly pass your thoughts on the button size along to the development team.
