Keychain Remote
Posted June 1st, 2009 by james9861
I don't know what can be done about this.
In a month's time since installing my system, I have accidently set off the alarm from the keychain remote.
Once when walking with my keys dangling from my hand and once when fishing the keys out of my pocket.

Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for your feedback. We're aware that this happens in some cases and are working on improving the design by increasing the force required to press the panic button and recessing it further so that it is less likely to be hit by accident. Of course, we don't want to make it too hard to press in an emergency!
I have to say, though, I'm surprised that it could be pressed accidentally while dangling from your hand. It should require some force and must be held down for at least 1 second to trigger an alarm. If you think that there's something wrong with yours that it's getting triggered more easily, please let us know and we can help fix it or replace it.
One other note for people who don't want to use the panic button on the Keychain Remote at all and are worried about false alarms. You can disable the panic button on the Keychain Remote by using the Easy Setup Wizard: from the main menu go to "adjust settings" and then "manage components." Next to your Keychain Remote you'll find an option for "panic disabled." The Keychain Remote will still function to operate your alarm, but the panic button will no longer do anything.
Best,
Chad
