Suggestion: Allow naming of sensor locations in setup

I just installed my system and wish that I had the ability to name the sensors in the setup based on the unique serial number on each one. It would make it easier for both an end user and dispatch to know which sensor (by location) was tripped.

14EXX = Front Door
14RES = Sun Room Door
14DFR = Guest Bedroom Window 1
121SD = Living Room Motion Sensor
14DNR = Master Bedroom Panic Button

Also, remind users to write down the sensor ID and named location PRIOR to final installation. I had to go back and check each one of mine after I had already installed as I did not know beforehand.

Thanks!

This feature should be integrated in the updated customer account dashboard online. It will not give you the ability to name sensors locally (so the Keypad displays/Base Station announcements match your names) but it will give you the opportunity to name the sensors by serial number for your smart alerts and online dashboard.

Thanks for posting! The naming of sensors cannot be incorporated into the SS1 system due to data and programming restrictions. If you would like to use this feature, you would need to upgrade to the SS2 Base Station and new service plan.

So true! I love the system

So true! I love the system but have had a lot of frustrations with it early on. Many sensor alerts out of the clear blue. Also wasted a lot of time tracking down the sensors since I was not advised to write them down in the beginning.
