Suggestion: New mode for "Home - Night/Sleep"
I am thinking about purchasing (haven't yet) and I understand the system can only be in 1 of 2 modes: Home or Away. I understand the sensors and delays can be configured separately for each mode, which is great. However, I think it would be awesome if there was a 3rd mode named: "Home - Night/Sleep" or maybe even just "Home2" or something.
The idea is that I might want some sensors to be active when I'm home during the day/evening, but I might want a different set to be active when I'm home, but sleeping. For example, I was thinking of covering my 2 basement windows with entry or motion sensors, but during the day/evening when I'm home I might go down into the basement to exercise or whatever, and I'm sure to forget that the system is armed, and set it off accidentally. However, when I go to bed at night, I would want those same sensors to be active, since the only movement down there while I'm asleep would be a burglar trying to break in.
I can imagine some other areas of the house that I'd want to configure the same way (un-armed during the waking hours, but armed/protected during sleeping hours).
I think this could be just a software upgrade? Maybe on the keychain you could tap the existing "Home" button twice and it will go into the new "Home - Night/Sleep" mode? Of course a dedicated button would be great, but it adds cost. I think the software solution would work?
Thoughts?
Thanks for your suggestion,
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll certainly pass it along to the design team. I do know, however, that this would not be a quick software upgrade -- it something that could be designed into a new system, but not just a firmware upgrade.
In the mean time, one thing you could consider doing is using the away mode while you sleep and while you're away. The only thing you couldn't do then is have a motion sensor in your bedroom, but everything else should work as you'd like.

we need to let our dog out
we need to let our dog out in the upstairs door leading to our deck. Can we use the key chain to arm and disarm in the system without going to the keypad to enter the pin which is downstairs?
Yes,
Yes, absolutely.
