my simplisafe website security

I tried to login to my SimpliSafe (and forums) using secure web page (starting with https). That keeps failing. I then noticed that the other login mechanism is using unsecure web connection (starts with http, no s at the end). Passwords sent over an unsecure web page can be read by hackers and your account hacked into.

This is a huge security loophole - I was not expecting this from a security company! Can somebody explain this?
