Setting Up Your New SimpliSafe

wireless sensors, door window, motion detector, smoke detectors, keypad and more

Everything in your original order comes pre-programmed, so set-up is really easy: you don’t have to add any sensors from your original order manually. The only time you have to add sensors to your system is if they weren’t ordered with your original system. And even then, it’s really simple!

In almost all cases, we pull the battery tabs on your base station before we ship your order, so that it arrives ready to go! The instruction manual tells you to pull the tab on the Base Station (and auxiliary siren, if you purchased one), but now we do it, so you don’t have to. All you have to do is plug it in to get started with your new alarm.

4 Easy Steps to Testing Your Motion Sensors

Once you’ve installed your motion sensors, test them with these four easy steps:

  1. SimpliSafe Keypad Menu System

Put your alarm in Test Mode by scrolling through your Keypad Menu and selecting option 5) TEST.

  2. SimpliSafe Motion Detector: Testing

Press the test button underneath the Motion Sensor.

  3. Leave the Room for 15-30 seconds.
  4. Then walk back into the room with the sensor. You will hear your Base Station say, “Motion Sensor.

What to do about large pets?

With larger pets, you can still use a Motion Sensor. Normally, the Motion Sensor looks straight out and down towards the ground. By turning the sensor upside down it will instead look straight ahead and up. This way, you can place the sensor high enough where your pet can’t trigger it, but low enough where a person would.

“Sensor Errors” Solved

If you aren’t using all the sensors that came with your SimpliSafe system, you’ll get a “sensor error” warning on your keypad and anytime you arm or disarm your system. That’s because your Base Station has been pre-programmed to connect with all the sensors that arrived in your system. To remove this error, remove the battery strip of the sensors and install them in your home.

If you don’t plan on using a sensor for a while, you probably want to remove it from your system. All you have to do is select option 4 on your Keypad, and then remove the sensor with the serial number matching the number on your sensor.

Here’s What “No Link to Dispatch” Means

Every SimpliSafe system will issue a No Link to Dispatch alert until you activate your monitoring. If you don’t plan on subscribing to monitoring, no problem: we can remove that message with a simple download!

Just give us a call at 1-800-548-9508. Be sure to look up your Base Station number by looking at its underside, so that we can prepare a specific download just for you.
