"Adopting" a SimpliSafe system

In a few days my wife and I will be closing on a property with an installed SS system (SS2, I think), and the system is included in the deal. The seller and the buyer (me) have received different verbal instructions from SS on how to transfer ownership/monitoring of the system. Has anyone gone through this process? Or SS, could you please clearly step us through what needs to happen? Thank you.

Thanks for posting! The situation can be handled in a few different ways, depending on the circumstance, what is being left for the new owner, if the old owner had monitoring etc. However, it's in general an easy transfer. Simply, the old owner must call in to cancel their monitoring using their safe word. Once this is done, the new owner can activate the system in their own name through their own customer account online. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Do all the alarms have to be set up again or will the settings carry over to the new owner?

You are really just changing

You are really just changing the paper work so to speak, the system will work as the old owner had it set up. Your really just changing the names and safe word and disarm codes, as well as credit card to pay with! You would want to change disarm codes and safe word right away.

It's easy to switch the system over to your home's new owners. Simply give us a call, and we can cancel your service. They'll then activate the service in their own name. They won't be able to access your safe word, etc. You will want to change the PINs in your system. If you need any help, please give us a call and we'd be happy to walk you through this process.
