The Danger of Owning a Wired System

As an alarm company, safety is our priority. We want to make sure that our product offers you the best protection. Buying a wireless system ensures that you will be protected against even the craftiest of burglars. You may have seen our previous posts on why our wireless keypad makes you safer and why wireless is better, so you know how our system keeps you protected even if your phone lines are cut or your keypad is smashed by an intruder. What you might not know is that owning a wired system can actually be dangerous.

To understand how important our wireless features are, check out this story from the Kinnelon- Butler Patch, which covers local news for Kinnelon, New Jersey. It shows how traditional “wired” systems can leave you vulnerable to burglary.

Telephone lines were cut and an alarm panel was ripped off a wall during an apparent burglary of a Carol Road residence according to Kinnelon Police. According to police, Ptl. Christopher Carbone responded to the home at about 10 p.m. The homeowner, who had been out between 1 and 10 p.m., came home and found the front door had been forced open and jewelry was missing from the residence, police said.

Police said they had also discovered telephone lines were cut outside the home and that the alarm panel inside the home was allegedly ripped off the wall.

If this home had been protected by a wireless alarm system, then cutting the phone lines and destroying the keypad would not have kept police from being notified.

Our wireless system doesn’t require a phone line, so there’s no fear of burglars cutting your line and disarming the system. Also, when an alarm is triggered, noise is emitted from the keypad, while your base station remains silent until it has already alerted the Emergency Dispatch Center. Once dispatch is alerted, a full siren noise is emitted from the base station, and by then it's too late for the burglar to stop the signal.

Just a few more reasons why SimpliSafe is the best choice for keeping your home safe and outsmarting any burglar.
