With select professional monitoring plans and the Outdoor Camera (Series 2), SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection delivers a double layer of defense — advanced AI technology combined with live security agents — to help keep intruders outside your home and prevent crime before it happens.
What makes SimpliSafe® professional monitoring different?
SimpliSafe's new Active Guard Outdoor Protection introduces a revolutionary double-layer approach to home security, combining the power of artificial intelligence (AI) technology with a team of expert monitoring professionals to help prevent crime before it happens. The service, which builds upon our recently launched intruder intervention*, extends the technology to outside the home. Now, when your system is armed during plan hours and motion is detected outside, agents can act to deter crimes in progress. They can see and speak directly to potential intruders in real time using the live feed and 2-way audio, and trigger camera sirens — all while capturing video evidence of what’s happening.
SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection and intruder intervention are available on select professional monitoring plans only.
These services are available through select camera hardware and require service opt in.

Will the police automatically come to my house during an alarm?
Monitoring agents will attempt to contact you first via Alarm Text and phone call. If you’ve set off the alarm by mistake, you can easily cancel via the app, Alarm Text, or by giving our agent your safeword over the phone prior to our agents requesting emergency dispatch. If you can’t be reached during an alarm, agents will process the alarm as a real emergency, contacting 911 centers to request police dispatch. With select professionally monitored plans, our agents can verify threats using video evidence, which can mean priority dispatch and faster police response.*

How does SimpliSafe protect my privacy?
We are committed to protecting our customers' privacy and sensitive data as vigilantly as their homes. First, you have complete control over when live agents monitor your location and which cameras they use. Agents only have access to outdoor enabled cameras during a motion event that occurs during your subscription service hours when your system is armed. And indoors, agents only have access to the Smart Alarm indoor camera during an alarm (and only if you’ve enabled the intruder intervention feature.
In addition, we use physical, technical and administrative controls to protect the confidentiality and security of biometric information which includes requiring agents to pass extensive background checks and work in a secured location.

Is there a catch when you say “no contract” for monitoring plans?
SimpliSafe monitoring subscribers are not tied up in long-term contracts. Our plans are billed monthly, and you can cancel at any time.
If I install it myself, can I still get professional monitoring?
Yes. Regardless of whether you install your system yourself or select Pro Install, you can still choose the monitoring plan that best meets your needs.
Can small businesses use SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection?
This service is designed for residential use, not commercial use.
What are the outdoor monitoring options?
We offer two professionally monitored plans that include all the benefits of the Core plan plus Active Guard Outdoor Protection. The Pro plan includes overnight outdoor protection (8pm to 6am local time), and the Pro Plus plan includes 24/7 outdoor protection.
What products are compatible with SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection?
Active Guard Outdoor Protection supports up to 3 devices in total, one of which must be the Outdoor Camera (Series 2) plugged in using the included power cable. The Video Doorbell Pro and/or additional Outdoor Cameras can then be added for extra protection.
Note that the Video Doorbell Pro cannot be used as a standalone product for Active Guard Outdoor Protection. It must be used in addition to the Outdoor Camera (Series 2).
Do live monitoring agents interact with people on my property?
Monitoring agents are trained to observe any person on your property and potentially engage them if they notice suspicious behavior. When you subscribe to a monitoring plan with SimpliSafe Active Guard Outdoor Protection and your system is armed within plan hours, agents are able to interact with people outside of your home. Where permitted by law, you can use the SimpliSafe App to save familiar faces of friends and family for agents to ignore. If the person isn't recognized, an agent may engage to assess any possible threat. The agent can watch, assist or deter people by using the outdoor camera's two-way communication and/or siren. For everyday activity such as deliveries, the agent will monitor the delivery person across your enrolled cameras but will not engage unless they observe something suspicious.
