How to Set-Up Secret Alerts—And Why You Should!

SimpliSafe Secret Alerts Alert-Only Sensors

Guest, kids, roommates, house cleaners, dog sitters, nannies: Anyone with even a little curiosity could be snooping in places you'd rather they didn't. You don't want a siren to sound when they do, but imagine the power of private notifications when people are getting into places they don’t really belong...

What if someone opened your gun safe, your liquor cabinet, or a private drawer? Wouldn't you want to know right away?

Secret Alerts are private notifications sent to you by specific sensors you designate to be on a special "alert-only" setting. Sensors on this setting won't trigger a system alarm, but send a discreet notification directly to you instead. If you haven’t used your Secret Alerts already, you are missing out on a world of knowledge (and fun).

How to Set-Up Secret Alerts

  1. First, visit SimpliSafe.com and log into your account. On the left hand-side of the page, you’ll see a list of tabs - Dashboard, Event Logs, etc. - you want to click Alarm Settings.
    • Don't have the Interactive Alarm Monitoring? Click here to sign up. If you subscribe to Standard monitoring, you can easily upgrade in your account.
  2. See where it says Manage Your Sensors? If you haven’t already added your sensors and given them names, click here to read my how-to guide.
  3. Turn any of your sensors into Secret Alerts by changing the setting in the drop-down menu to “no alarm - sms/email alert only.”
  4. Get more entry sensors to add to your cabinets, safes and drawers.
  5. Turn on SMS or Email Text Alerts for alarms, if you haven’t already.

Whether you want to know when someone’s going into your bedroom or looking into your cabinets, Secret Alerts are a really smart way to keep tabs on snooping in your home.
